Mouth Ulcers continue their rise with expansive new single “Space”

London goth revivalists Mouth Ulcers have shared their gripping new single “Space”, the latest preview of their forthcoming debut EP Silent Pictures, arriving July 10 via LAB Records.

Emerging from the capital’s shadowy corners the quartet have quickly built a reputation for crafting atmospheric songs that balance post-punk urgency with a cinematic feel. On “Space”, that formula reaches new heights. Anchored by a brooding bassline, shimmering glacial guitars and Zak Watson’s subsumed baritone, the track explores the uneasy relationship between memory and survival. That weighty feeling of carrying the past despite knowing that reclaiming it is essentially futile.

Following previous singles “Prevail” and “Closer To You” Mouth Ulcers are fast becoming one of the UK’s most exciting new alternative bands. They certainly draw influences from gothic pioneers, who they clearly adore, and replant these in the 21st century for a whole new generation of darkly dreaming music lovers.

With sold-out headline dates already under their belt and a packed summer of festival appearances ahead, Mouth Ulcers are proving that the current gothic resurgence has found one of its most compelling new voices.
