Cutscene – “Shrine (Give Me a Chance)”
Shimmering with emotional urgency this new song pairs soaring indie-rock textures with a yearning melodic core. Pushing and pulling between vulnerability and frustration in equal amounts it has a magnetic quality that lingers long after the final note rings out.
overpass – “Fall In Love”
Bright guitars and youthful energy, delivered in a rush of indie-pop exhilaration. “Fall In Love” comes from the quartet’s Elsewhere, Always album and showcases their knack for creating melody that shines throughout with romantic uncertainty into something irresistibly uplifting.
Mouth Ulcers – “Space”
London goths present more fuzzed-out intensity with moments of surprising openness. Beneath the gloomy, doomy stylised noise lies a strong melodic thread that keeps pulling you back.
Silver Gore – “Peculiar”
Built on contrasts this track blend alt-pop dance foundations with moments of melancholic warmth. The duo’s distinctive sound creates an atmosphere and restless energy make for a compelling listen.
Bed – デトロイト “Detoroito”
Tokyo industrial / alt rock-dance. Transporting the listener through a haze of understated grime and dreamlike melancholy. The arrangement twists and writhes but never overreaches whilst capturing a vibe of Chemical Brothers/Underworld in the process.
Daniel Avery – “Lemon”
Avery builds beauty in repetition here. The texture, momentum and hypnotic pulse all feel immersive and purposeful, demonstrating his gift for crafting electronic music with blissful depth.
Patrick Wolf – “The Laughing Dove”
Only a week since announcing his return with “The Beast” Wolf presents more elegance and emotional richness, marrying intricate instrumentation to a deeply expressive performance. It’s a song that luxuriates in warmth and humanity.
she’s green – “close your eyes”
Shoegaze/dreampop. Whatever label the band are given she’s green continue to bathe listeners in layers of luminous guitar and gentle atmosphere. It’s an understated track that’s both comforting and quietly affecting.
CHALK – “Tongue (Torba Remix)”
Italian producer and musician TORBA, amplifies Chalk’s original industrial/techno/post-punk intensity through even more caustic driving rhythms and sharpened textures. The result is a remix that’s joltingly kinetic, pushing the edges of the Belfast band’s initial offering.
