Cutscene announce debut EP and share urgent new single

Manchester-based four-piece Cutscene have unveiled their latest single, “Shrine (Give Me A Chance)”, alongside details of their debut EP A Piece Of Life, due for release on July 10 via Heist or Hit.

The track continues the band’s rapid ascent, pairing jagged guitar lines and driving rhythms with frontman Seb Mason’s emotionally charged vocals. Exploring the tension between devotion and doubt, the song imagines a relationship on the brink, drawing parallels between romantic idealism and the feeling of being trapped by familiar surroundings.

Speaking of the track’s release, the group states: “The song’s structure switches lyrically between the perspective of the person who is uncertain about a future together, and their partner who is living in an artificial world fuelled by a craving for the perfect relationship. This obsessive drive led to the song name ‘Shrine’, a place or thing which is venerated or prayed over, while the pop cliche (Give me a chance) emulates the sugary sweet nature of idealised love.”

There’s also a striking new visualiser combining grainy handheld footage, fragmented sequences and dreamlike imagery, mirroring the song’s themes of uncertainty and emotional claustrophobia.

Following previous single ‘Concrete Line’ and early universal support from BBC 6 Music, NME and The Line Of Best Fit, Cutscene’s debut EP is set to be one of the years most anticipated releases.
