Los Angeles composer and art-pop visionary Julia Holter has announced her new album Materia, arriving August 21 via Domino Recording Company. The seven-track collection expands on the ideas explored on her acclaimed 2024 record Something in the Room She Moves, acting as a companion piece that revisits, reshapes and reimagines material from that era of her work. 

Alongside the announcement, Holter has shared “My Lost One”, a luminous track that finds her balancing intricate arrangements with moments of weightless, dreamlike beauty. 

Recorded with her band between touring commitments, Materia features newly developed compositions alongside alternate versions of the song “Materia”, including expanded interpretations that explore different vocal and instrumental possibilities. The album’s seven tracks include “The Laugh Is in the Eyes”, “My Lost One”, “Fantasy”, “Materia 2”, “Clepsydra”, “My Twin” and “Materia 3”. 

Holter is one of contemporary music’s most adventurous voices, creating worlds where classical influences, experimental pop and electronic textures collide in endlessly surprising ways.
