Chloe Slater announces debut album “Riot Youth”
Set for release on October 9 via Stolen Juice (AWAL) Riot Youth arrives as the long-awaited debut full-length from Chloe Slater – one of the UK’s most exciting emerging artists. She’s a songwriter whose sharp observations and fearless storytelling have rapidly earned her a devoted following, and rightly so. The record’s title feels like a mission statement, capturing the frustration, humour and restless energy that have all become hallmarks of Slater’s work.
The run of EP and singles releases she’s had since 2024 have showcased her ability to turn personal anxieties into communal anthems and Riot Youth looks set to widen the lens even further The album promises a collection of songs that grapple with identity, belonging, anger and hope, all delivered with her unmistakable blend of biting wit and emotionally charged indie as a true provocateur.
The inclusion of fan favourite “Ugly” suggests the record won’t shy away from uncomfortable truths, that’s not her style anyway. While titles such as “I’ve Never Felt So Hated”, recent single “Southern Youth” and “Get Me Out” also hint at a project deeply invested in the realities of modern young adulthood. Even from the track names alone there’s a sense of resilience running through the worlds chaos.
With Riot Youth, it’s great to know there’s an album in the near future because Slater writes exciting pop rock music with melodies that stay in your brain, and she’s also not afraid to plant a flag on subjects others don’t. There’s a social and moral conscience without hectoring and it’s always focussed on the music.
For an artist already making serious noise on the UK indie circuit, Riot Youth feels poised to be the moment everything clicks into place.
