Westside Cowboy announce debut album “It Goes On” and drop new single “Kick Stones (The Boys)”
Manchester quartet Westside Cowboy have finally confirmed details of their long-awaited debut album It Goes On, landing August 21 via Island Records — and they’re kicking things off with the release of towering new single “Kick Stones (The Boys)”
Premiered by BBC Radio 6 Music, the track finds the four-piece of Reuben Haycocks (guitar, vocals), James (Jimmy) Bradbury (guitar, vocals), Aoife Anson O’Connell (bass guitar, vocals), Paddy Murphy (drums, vocals) leaning into a bigger, more propulsive sound without losing the ragged-heart intensity that’s made them one of UK indie’s most talked-about new bands. Inspired by a live recording of The Velvet Underground’s “What Goes On”, the song channels swaggering ‘70s rock through Westside Cowboy’s distinctly scrappy lens. “Taking this mad, ‘70s rock thing but then having it played by a bunch of scrawny kids,” drummer Paddy Murphy says about the track’s creation.
Produced by Loren Humphrey, whose recent credits include Geese and Wunderhorse, It Goes On promises eleven tracks grappling with youth, confusion and connection, all delivered with the band’s now-signature urgency and emotional punch.
The single arrives alongside a new video created with FC United of Manchester, reflecting the community-driven ethos that’s become central to the band’s identity. With festival slots at Reading and Leeds, Green Man and Latitude already lined up, plus their biggest headline tour yet later in the year Westside Cowboy’s rise now feels impossible to ignore.
