South London’s Red Ivory announce new music and an upcoming EP release. The four-piece of Eiliyah, Berry, Frida and Ivy, formed back in 2021 as mere 14-year-olds in a school music room. Four years on, they’re set to release a bold new EP, Please Leave, I Need To Wake Up Now, on November 28.
Today they’ve dropped its first single, the jagged and unrelenting “Crashing Down.” A claustrophobic swirl of moody sounding, anxious tension, it lurches from tightly coiled stillness into a storm of serrated guitars, feral vocals and cymbal-crash chaos. The clarinet (yes, clarinet) cuts through the noise, adding a shadowy weight to the track’s spiralling descent.
The EP marks Red Ivory’s first fully realised statement, a leap forward from 2023’s Façade EP and a document of their transition from teenage experimenters to a band with something cohesive and urgent to say. Themes of uncertainty, change and self-destruction run through the record, but the sound is fearless.
Please Leave, I Need To Wake Up Now’ track list:
1. 12th October
2. Crashing Down
3. Hate The Way
4. Interlude
5. My Mind
