Philly’s noise sculptors Nothing are all set to charge back into the spotlight with A short history of decay, their first album in more than five years and their boldest statement to date. The record lands 27 February 2026 through Run For Cover, and on early listen, it’s the most expansive and truthful chapter in the band’s story so far.
Nothing already hold serious weight in the shoegaze world and this new era builds on that foundation with a sound that still hits like a collapsing star, only now it spirals into bigger territory. Think glitch-scorched electronics, swelling brass, and glimmering harp lines twisted into that familiar wall of sound. It feels intimate and serene one moment and unhinged the next.
At the centre is Domenic Palermo, pulling straight from a his life marked by chaos. Prison time in his youth, relentless substance-fuelled touring, broken connections, and a body pushed too far – now dealing with the onset of his essential tremors (a condition similar to Parkinson’s) – and they’re audible in his voice. It’s unfiltered, honest and truthful, not polished. The result is a record that captures a man taking stock of everything he has survived and everything that still reverberates inside him. Bolstered by his bandmates who continue to produce some awe inspiring noises, for one thing, but also afford Palermo the space he needs to speak his truth.
