Nine Perfect Lives announce debut single “Die” and signing to AD93

We’ve been fascinated with Nine Perfect Lives since finding a brief Instagram clip of them playing live back in March this year. The alt-rock, off-kilter dream pop, sound pricked our ears and we’ve patiently been following along hoping for more music, despite their careful restraint for putting anything online until recently, and now the wait is over.

The Brooklyn duo have announced their signing to adventurous independent label AD 93 (Moin, Purple Pilgrims), alongside the release of their debut single “Die”.

The project, formed by Helena Straight and Stella Wave, former members of alternative rock outfit Hello Mary, marks a fresh chapter in their creative partnership. In amongst the art-rock experimentation you can pick out elements of ethereal folk. Nine Perfect Lives is a very different side exploring their musical chemistry.

“Die” was apparently written while Straight was living in Los Angeles and Wave remained in New York. What began life as a quick demo inspired by the emotional fallout of their sudden geographical separation, became the starting point for something new rather than a potential creative stumbling block.

It’s an intriguing introduction to a brand new project born from a renewed collaboration and marks the beginning of Nine Perfect Lives’ next adventure under the AD 93 banner.
