Former Savages bassist Ayşe Hassan has unveiled details of her new ESYA album project Chasing Desire, out on 10th April via AOK Records, including the release of the new single “Heaven” which is a pounding dance floor track that takes it’s lyrical cues from deep rooted anxiety and isolationist, self-preservation.
“Heaven”’s sound is both immense and intense, while Hassan’s smooth bass playing intertwines impactfully with the songs programmed beats and synths. She’s been world building her own DIY identity from scratch over previous EP releases, re-learning her craft and singing for the very first time on record. However it now feels like a huge step towards owning the space, with soundscapes and self exploration at the forefront. “I was finding my voice – literally, as I had never sung before – and I really wanted to create something that was honest,” she shares.
