Cutscene turn up the tension on new single “Imperium”

Cutscene have unveiled “Imperium”, arriving after the already acclaimed singles “Concrete Line” and “Shrine (Give Me A Chance)”, “Imperium” serves as a powerful final statement ahead of their debut EP A Piece Of Life, which comes out this Friday 10 July via Heist or Hit.
Built around tight yet spacious coiling guitar riffs, and totemic, persistent rhythms explosive dynamics the track explores the subtle mechanics of manipulation, examining how power can be exercised through intelligence, language and emotional control rather than brute force. It’s a song that has a suitably interlaced feeling of personal exasperation and societal oppression, or even apathy.
Frontman Seb Mason says the song was intentionally written to invite multiple interpretations, functioning equally as the story of a toxic relationship or as a broader commentary on political authority and the abuse of influence. That ambiguity gives “Imperium” an added depth allowing the themes to collide beneath its surging indie-rock exterior.
Cutscene have quickly established themselves as one of the UK’s most exciting new guitar bands, especially live where the crowd and band communicate on a riotous level and it’s this reaction to there melodic, thoughtful, and driving setlist that has rapidly elevated the band’s profile.
With festival appearances and live dates lined up for the months ahead and A Piece Of Life arriving this week, Cutscene appear poised to convert their momentum into something far more substantial. They’re already capable of pairing sharp lyrical ambition with exhilarating musical force.
