Library Card channel repressed rage on “People Pleaser”

Rotterdam noise-punk quartet Library Card have announced their second album, Peeling An Orange In Just One Go, due for release on 6 November via AT EASE, alongside the blistering new single, “People Pleaser”.

The track signals a striking new chapter for the Dutch four-piece, whose forthcoming record promises a more emotionally exposed approach than their previous work. While Library Card have built a reputation for sharp, surreal lyricism and restless post-punk experimentation, Peeling An Orange In Just One Go reportedly reveals those layers to confront frustration, vulnerability and emotional repression head-on.

Driven by spiralling guitars, pounding rhythms and an overwhelming wall of noise, “People Pleaser” culminates in a visceral scream from vocalist Lot van Teylingen, embodying the song’s central theme of suppressed anger. Van Teylingen says the track reflects the pressures placed on people—particularly under patriarchal expectations—to remain agreeable, avoid confrontation and bury legitimate feelings of rage. Rather than internalising that frustration, Library Card choose release, making the song’s explosive climax both a political statement and an act of catharsis.

Since forming in 2021, Library Card have emerged as one of the Netherlands’ most compelling underground bands, blending noise rock, post-punk and art-rock into a sound that is as intellectually playful as it is emotionally urgent. Their inventive songwriting, electrifying live performances have cemented their reputation has also been cemented on stage, with fans and press alike.

Library Card transform simmering frustration into exhilarating noise on this uncompromising first taste of an album that looks set to be their boldest and most emotionally resonant release to date.
